AFA Klamath algae (AFA = Aphanizomenon flos-aquae) are freshwater micro-algae that grow in the pure and mineral-rich waters of Klamath Lake in Oregon, U.S.A.
They contain more than 65 nutrients and have been used for thousands of years as a food supplement and natural remedy.
They contain 55 to 70% protein, fibre, omega-3 and omega-6, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9, B12, C, E, choline) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphor, potassium), as well as 18 micro-nutrients (iron, zinc, copper, selenium, etc.).
Their abundance of pigments makes them an unparalleled antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. They help in the fight against free radicals and contribute to repairing the effects of radioactivity.
Their membrane is easily digestible and allows for the absorption of 95% of its beneficial nutrients.
Klamath has the particular feature of supporting the migration of stem cells. These cells are naturally present in bone marrow and are supposed to travel to parts of the body that have been damaged to regenerate them. However, with age this migration no longer occurs and aging becomes apparent. Klamath is scientifically recognised as a stimulant of this migration. Hence, it contributes significantly to the repair and regeneration of cells.
